Over 30+ live and film productions
Dora Nominated
Department Head and Lead Designer
Here’s the full story:
I caught the acting bug at 14 in a theatre production with Stage Polaris in Edmonton. Or perhaps during the jr high talent show where I recited the entirety of Lady of Shallot— with MUCH passion. After studying at the University of Alberta and Victoria, I earned a BFA in theatre and BA in creative writing and moved to the big city— Toronto.
It’s been a wild ride. From stage productions to improv, films to childrens entertainment, commercials to a childlife-focused theatre run at Sickkids, I tried a bit of everything until I found my passion in film and television. In 2013, I received the Bessie award for Best Actor— the award was for an anti-smoking campaign that went viral entitled “Social Farter.” I believe my face is in a post secondary marketing textbook for this ingenious advertisement. So glad my kids can tell their buddies “my mom is famous for farting.”
I was performing a one woman show when a costume broke on a different production at the same theatre. Someone had heard I could sew and so I completed the repair. The next day I was asked to design their next production. And so began an 12 year journey into theatre design.
I have designed over 30 shows and films in the GTA, Canada and two in Argentina. In 2022 I was nominate for a Dora Mavor Moore award for Outstanding Achievement in Design.
Compelled to create, an imagination (almost) as big as a child’s and genuinely in love with my art— thats me. Toronto is an epicentre of the arts and I am privileged to continue working on my craft here.
